A mother held her new baby and very slowly rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And while she held him, she sang:

The baby grew. He grew and he grew and he grew. He grew until he was two years old, and he ran all around the house. He pulled all the books off the shelves. He pulled all the food out of the refrigerator and he took his mother's watch and flushed it down the toilet. Sometimes his mother would say, "this kid is driving me CRAZY!"

But at night time, when that two-year-old was quiet, she opened the door to his room, crawled across the floor, looked up over the side of his bed; and if he was really asleep she picked him up and rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. While she rocked him she sang:

As long as I'm living

The little boy grew. He grew and he grew and he grew. He grew until he was nine years old. And he never wanted to come in for dinner, he never wanted to take a bath, and when grandma visited he always said bad words. Sometimes his mother wanted to sell him to the zoo!

But at night time, when he was asleep, the mother quietly opened the door to his room, crawled across the floor and looked up over the side of the bed. If he was really asleep, she picked up that nine-year-old boy and rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And while she rocked him she sang:

I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
my baby you'll be.

The boy grew. He grew and he grew and he grew. He grew until he was a teenager. He had strange friends and he wore strange clothes and he listened to strange music. Sometimes the mother felt like she was in a zoo!

But at night time, when that teenager was asleep, the mother opened the door to his room, crawled across the floor and looked up over the side of the bed. If he was really asleep she picked up that great big boy and rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. While she rocked him she sang:

I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
my baby you'll be.

That teenager grew. He grew and he grew and he grew. He grew until he was a grown-up man. He left home and got a house across town. But sometimes on dark nights the mother got into her car and drove across town. If all the lights in her son's house were out, she opened his bedroom window, crawled across the floor, and looked up over the side of his bed. If that great big man was really asleep she picked him up and rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And while she rocked him she sang:

I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
my baby you'll be.

Well, that mother, she got older. She got older and older and older. One day she called up her son and said, "You'd better come see me because I'm very old and sick." So her son came to see her. When he came in the door she tried to sing the song. She sang:

I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always...

But she couldn't finish because she was too old and sick. The son went to his mother. He picked her up and rocked her back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And he sang this song:

I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
my Mommy you'll be.

When the son came home that night, he stood for a long time at the top of the stairs. Then he went into the room where his very new baby daughter was sleeping. He picked her up in his arms and very slowly rocked her back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And while he rocked her he sang:

Από την ηλικία των οκτώ ετών, η Αμαλία ξεκίνησε να πονάει. Παρά τις συνεχείς επισκέψεις της σε γιατρούς και νοσοκομεία, κανένας δεν κατάφερε να διαγνώσει εγκαίρως το καλόηθες νευρίνωμα στο πόδι της. Δεκαεπτά χρόνια αργότερα, η Αμαλία έμαθε ότι το νευρίνωμα είχε πια μεταλλαχθεί σε κακόηθες νεόπλασμα.

Για τα επόμενα πέντε χρόνια η Αμαλία είχε να παλέψει όχι μόνο με τον καρκίνο και τον ακρωτηριασμό, αλλά και με την παθογένεια ενός Εθνικού Συστήματος Υγείας που επιλέγει να κλείνει τα μάτια στα φακελάκια κι επιμένει να κωλυσιεργεί με παράλογες γραφειοκρατικές διαδικασίες. Εκτός από τις ακτινοβολίες και τη χημειοθεραπεία, η Αμαλία είχε να αντιμετωπίσει την οικονομική εκμετάλλευση από γιατρούς που στάθηκαν απέναντί της και όχι δίπλα της. Πέρα από τον πόνο, είχε να υπομείνει την απληστία των ιδιωτικών κλινικών και την ταλαιπωρία στις ουρές των ασφαλιστικών ταμείων για μία σφραγίδα.


Η Αμαλία άφησε την τελευταία της πνοή την Παρασκευή 25 Μαϊου 2007. Ήταν μόλις 30 ετών.

Πριν φύγει, πρόλαβε να καταγράψει την εμπειρία της και να τη μοιραστεί μαζί μας μέσα από το διαδικτυακό της ημερολόγιο. Στην ηλεκτρονική διεύθυνση http://fakellaki.blogspot.com, η νεαρή φιλόλογος κατήγγειλε επώνυμα τους γιατρούς που αναγκάστηκε να δωροδοκήσει, επαινώντας παράλληλα εκείνους που επέλεξαν να τιμήσουν τον Ορκο του Ιπποκράτη. Η μαρτυρία της συγκίνησε χιλιάδες ανθρώπους, που της στάθηκαν συμπαραστάτες στον άνισο αγώνα της μέχρι το τέλος.

«Ο στόχος της Αμαλίας ήταν να πει την ιστορία της, ώστε μέσα απ' αυτήν να αφυπνίσει όσο το δυνατόν περισσότερους ανθρώπους και συνειδήσεις. Κυρίως ήθελε να δείξει ότι υπάρχουν τρόποι αντίστασης στην αυθαιρεσία και την εξουσία των ασυνείδητων και ανάλγητων γιατρών, αλλά και των γραφειοκρατών υπαλλήλων του συστήματος υγείας.»

Σύμφωνα με τις διατάξεις του άρθρου 77 του Ν. 2071/1992, θεωρείται πειθαρχικό παράπτωμα για τους γιατρούς του Ε.Σ.Υ:

«Η δωροληψία και ιδίως η λήψη αμοιβής και η αποδοχή οποιασδήποτε άλλης περιουσιακής παροχής, για την προσφορά οποιασδήποτε ιατρικής υπηρεσίας.»

Η Αμαλία Καλυβίνου αγωνίστηκε για πράγματα που θεωρούνται αυτονόητα σε ένα σύγχρονο ευρωπαϊκό κράτος. Δυστυχώς δεν είναι και τόσο αυτονόητα στην Ελλάδα. Συνεχίζοντας την προσπάθεια που ξεκίνησε η Αμαλία, διαμαρτυρόμαστε δημόσια και απαιτούμε:

Η Αμαλία έφυγε τα ξημερώματα της Παρασκευής...

Η 30χρονη φιλόλογος έμαθε μόλις πριν από πέντε χρόνια ότι πάσχει από καρκίνο. Μέχρι εκείνη τη στιγμή, δεκάδες γιατροί έλεγαν ότι πρόκειται απλώς για ιδιοπάθεια, ένας χρόνιος πόνος που δεν μπορούσε να εξηγηθεί.

Ένας καλοήθης όγκος στο πόδι της- ένα νευρίνωμα- δεν διαγνώστηκε και δεν αντιμετωπίστηκε ποτέ, με αποτέλεσμα να εξελιχθεί σε καρκίνο που οδήγησε στον ακρωτηριασμό του ποδιού της, αναφέρουν Τα Νέα της Τρίτης.

Γραφειοκρατία

Από το 1984, όταν ήταν μόλις 8 χρόνων, μέχρι το 2001 είχε επισκεφθεί δεκάδες γιατρούς για τους αφόρητους πόνους στο πόδι της. Το τελευταίο διάστημα η Αμαλία έδινε μάχη με τον καρκίνο του πνεύμονα- 47 όγκους είχαν εντοπίσει οι γιατροί.

Πριν από ενάμιση χρόνο, η Αμαλία έφτιαξε ένα blog, όπου μοιράστηκε όλο τον πόνο της ζωής της και περιέγραψε με κάθε λεπτομέρεια τις εξετάσεις και τους γιατρούς που μιλούσαν για «ιδιοπάθεια».

«Εξαιτίας σου, γιατρέ μου, έχω χάσει απολαύσεις αμέτρητες, έχω διακόψει τις σπουδές μου πάνω από τρεις φορές, έχω στερηθεί ταξίδια, δεν φόρεσα ποτέ μίνι φούστα λόγω της ατροφίας, έχω αντιμετωπίσει παράλογη γραφειοκρατία, έχω υπάρξει θύμα οικονομικής εκμετάλλευσης από γιατρούς, έχω υπάρξει υποψήφιο θύμα σεξουαλικής εκμετάλλευσης από γιατρό, έχω νοσηλευθεί σε βρώμικα νοσοκομεία με αδιάφορους γιατρούς και νοσοκόμες, έχω περιμένει άπειρες ώρες σε ουρές νοσοκομείων ή ΙΚΑ για μία σφραγίδα», έγραφε στις 7 Απριλίου η 30χρονη φιλόλογος.

Η άτυχη Αμαλία εξιστορεί την απίστευτη ταλαιπωρία της στο ΙΚΑ και τον ΕΟΦ για να πάρει έγκριση για το μόνο φάρμακο που θα μπορούσε να την βοηθήσει. Τελικά, όμως, αποδείχθηκε ανεπαρκές.

Η Αμαλία έγραψε το τελευταίο μήνυμα στο blog στις αρχές Μαΐου. Καθημερινά δεχόταν στο fakellaki. blogspot. com εκατοντάδες μηνύματα συμπαράστασης από όλη τη χώρα.

Για όσους ήθελαν να κάνουν κάτι παραπάνω από το να γράψουν απλώς ένα ηλεκτρονικό μήνυμα, η οικογένεια της Αμαλίας έδωσε την ιδέα της προσφοράς στην ίδρυση του ογκολογικού νοσοκομείου για παιδιά και σε όποια άλλη προσπάθεια αφορά τον καρκίνο.

LONDON (Reuters) - A judge admitted on Wednesday he was struggling to cope with basic terms like "Web site" in the trial of three men accused of inciting terrorism via the Internet.

Judge Peter Openshaw broke into the questioning of a witness about a Web forum used by alleged Islamist radicals.

"The trouble is I don't understand the language. I don't really understand what a Web site is," he told a London court during the trial of three men charged under anti-terrorism laws.

Prosecutor Mark Ellison briefly set aside his questioning to explain the terms "Web site" and "forum". An exchange followed in which the 59-year-old judge acknowledged: "I haven't quite grasped the concepts."

Violent Islamist material posted on the Internet, including beheadings of Western hostages, is central to the case.

Concluding Wednesday's session and looking ahead to testimony on Thursday by a computer expert, the judge told Ellison: "Will you ask him to keep it simple, we've got to start from basics."

Younes Tsouli, 23, Waseem Mughal, 24, and Tariq al-Daour, 21, deny a range of charges under Britain's Terrorism Act, including inciting another person to commit an act of terrorism "wholly or partly" outside Britain.

Tsouli and Mughal also deny conspiracy to murder. Al-Daour has pleaded not guilty to conspiring with others to defraud banks, credit card and charge card companies.

Prosecutors have told the jury at Woolwich Crown Court, east London, that the defendants kept car-bomb-making manuals and videos of how to wire suicide vests as part of a campaign to promote global jihad, or holy war.

Ο χρόνος περνάει. Τα πράγματα καλυτερεύουν σε ορισμένους τομείς, σε άλλους μένουν στάσιμα και σε κάποιους άλλους γίνονται χειρότερα.

Το Pandora έγινε πλέον μόνο για κατοίκους Αμερικής. Βέβαια με λίγη καλή θέληση μπορείς να ακούσεις (χρησιμοποιόντας κάποιον open proxy ή κάποιον anonymizer) αλλά είναι λιγάκι αργό έτσι. Κρίμας γιατί ήταν μια χρήσιμη υπηρεσία που την χρησιμοποιούσε πολύς κόσμος. Αρκετοί άγνωστοι τραγουδιστές και συγκροτήματα είχαν την ευκαιρία να γίνουν γνωστοί. Σε πολλά blogs διάβαζα ότι υπήρχαν άτομα που αγοράσαν CD συγκροτημάτων που γνωρίσαν μέσο του Pandora. Οι εταιρίες βέβαια μυαλό δεν βάζουν! Δεν πειράζει... Άσε τους να αναρρωτιούνται γιατί μειώνονται οι πωλήσεις τους και γιατί ο κόσμος δεν αγοράζει. Πως να αγοράσει α) όταν οι τιμές είναι στα ύψη (βλέπε 15-20€ για ένα cd single) β) όταν σε ένα CD τα τραγούδια που αξίζουν είναι 2~3 και τα υπόλοιπα μόνο και μόνο για να καλυφθεί ο ζητούμενος χρόνος.

Ταξιδάκι εν όψη του Σ/Κ. Θα πάμε να περάσουμε το φαράγγι της Σαμαριάς με διανυκτέρευση στην Αγία Ρούμελη. Το έχω περάσει 3 φορές αλλά όχι τέτοια εποχή. Η διαμονή στην Αγία Ρούμελη είναι κάτι το καταπληκτικό! Απόλυτη ηρεμία και γαλήνη. Ούτε φασαρίες, ούτε αυτοκίνητα, ούτε μηχανάκια. Την τελευταία φορά που έμεινα εκεί ήταν σκέτη απόλαυση. Μου θύμισε εποχές που ήμουν πιτσιρίκι. Αρχές δεκαετίας '80... τότε που οι αλάνες υπήρχαν, οι δρόμοι ήταν σχεδόν ασφαλείς (μιας και υπήρχαν πολύ λιγότερα αυτοκίνητα) και υπήρχε η έννοια της γειτονιάς.

Αυτά προς το παρόν. Το πότε θα γράψω κάτι ακόμα είναι άγνωστο... stay in touch!

Γκαντεμοβδομάδα

Τι γκαντεμιά έχει πέσει αυτή την εβδομάδα; Δεν μπορώ να καταλάβω...

Γίνεται της πουτάνας παντού... Κόβουν οπτικές ίνες οι εργολάβει και στα αρχίδια τους. Κάθε μέρα σχεδόν κόβουν και από ένα καλώδιο. Δ12 και Δ13 εκτός... καίγεται ασφάλεια (μαχαιρωτή) 150Α γιατί τραβούσε 200Α ... Τι να πεις! Μεγάλυ γκαντεμιά έπεσε!

Έχουν φύγει με άδεια 2 συνάδελφοι και για σεμινάρια άλλοι 2 με αποτέλεσμα να έχουμε μείνει 4 άτομα για όλο τον νομό.

Δευτέρα και Τρίτη και Τετάρτη κάναμε 500 χλμ με το αμάξι. Και που δεν πήγαμε! Γυρίσαμε όλη τη Δυτική Κρήτη από Καστελι - Πλατανας- Αμιγδαλοκεφάλι - Προφήτης Ηλίας - Βάθη - Μουστάκο - Χρυσοσκαλίτισα - Αλικιανος - Μοδι - Γαλατάς - Αγιά Μαρίνα - Σκλόπα. Και η βδομάδα ακόμα δεν έχει τελειώσει!
